Rescue in the OR: A Consolidated Health Information Services (CHIS)
Rescue of Horizon Surgical Manager Shared Implementation

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the Windsor Regional Hospital are two members of the Consolidated Health Information Services (CHIS). Both member organizations embarked on the shared implementation of McKesson's Horizon Surgical Manager. For the hospitals, the traditional approach of internally managing and implementing a project went through significant changes required by working in a shared services environment. Collaboration, communication and teamwork between the two hospitals and CHIS, was instrumental in their march towards project success.

Please join us as David Hilton, Executive Lead with CHIS and Caroline Ouimet, Health Consultant with Sierra Systems, recount explicit real-world details of what they have learned through this project. Attendees can look forward to:

  • Gaining an understanding of the challenges, barriers and issues of multi-hospital collaboration in the context of shared IT services.
  • Understanding the importance of clear planning and project management methodologies in ensuring project success.
  • Grasping how a collaborative framework can be built between organizations to ensure success in sharing resources.
  • Gaining an awareness of how to utilize tools and techniques which provide transparency and how to use these tools to identify and mitigate risks.
